Wild horse advocates, particularly those in Northern Nevada, are requested to attend a protest and press conference in response to
Senate Bill 1273,
Senator Harry Reid's latest attempt to expand sale authority and place perhaps 16,000 more protected wild horses at risk of going to slaughter.
The protest will take place in front of the State Legislature Building at North Carson Street and 5th Street in Carson City from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM. Signs will be provided by various wild horse groups.
A couple of BLM "spokeshorses" will also be present.
We are seeking permission to conduct the press conference at the Pony Express Historical Marker on the Capitol grounds.
For additional information regarding attending this protest, please contact Sheila Schwadel at [email protected].
For information regarding obtaining signs or approved (and functional) sign formats, please contact Bonnie Matton at [email protected].
We need to head off S.1273 before it gains momentum. We hope y'all can make it.
Update:
It appears at this time that S.1273 will die for lack of cosponsors in the Senate.
